Shubman Gill is set to lead the team, while Hardik Pandya and Jasprit Bumrah have been rested, with the selectors opting to manage workloads ahead of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup. Pandya has not been cleared by the BCCI Centre of Excellence (COE) to bowl his full quota of 10 overs, prompting the team management to exercise caution.

Despite the rotation, India have tried to remain as close to full strength as possible. Arshdeep Singh and Kuldeep Yadav retain their places, while the pace attack features Mohammed Siraj, along with Harshit Rana and Prasidh Krishna. Notably, Mohammed Shami has not been included in the squad.

Shreyas Iyer, who suffered a serious injury during India’s third ODI against Australia in October, has been cleared to feature in a Vijay Hazare Trophy match on January 6. The middle-order batter will turn out for Mumbai against Himachal Pradesh at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur.

However, his availability for the ODI series remains subject to fitness clearance from the BCCI Centre of Excellence (COE). Iyer is expected to be closely monitored during the domestic fixture, with his performance and physical condition likely to play a key role in determining his readiness for a return to international cricket after a prolonged layoff.
